The 1970 Lotus 72 was run by Rob Walker with Graham Hill driving. With the blue & white “Brooke Bond Oxo” livery, this was a rare site in the 1970 season. For over half the season Rob Walker and Graham Hill used a Lotus 49C up until the 9th race out of 13 at Austria when Rob Walker racing did not turn up as the Lotus 49 was not competitive. The next race saw the Rob Walker team turning up with the new Lotus 72. But the car, as with all the other Lotus 72′s, was pulled out due to the fatal accident involving the championship leader Jochen Rindt.
